    Gaming Crash - Specifically Fortnite

    Hey guys,

Looking to get some help. I am having issues with my computer crashing usually in Fortnite and often (no issue in COD, Escape from Tarkov, and others). This doesn’t make any sense to me given hardware is decently good and i’ve tried to play around with settings. My UserBenchmark comes out as expected for hardware. Is anyone willing to provide some tips for fixing the issue? They SSD and RAM are new.
    • 32GB RAM (3600Mhz) - new (changed settings in BIOS)
    • GTX 2070
    • 2TB SSD (Samsung 970Plus - new)

    -Intel i7-9700

    -850 PSU

Things I have tried: turn off any overclocking, update all drivers, reinstall game and launcher

Thanks for reaching out Veeg! Some extra information below.

PSU - APEVIA 800WATT GOLD 80 PLUS POWER SUPPLY (was wrong on wattage)
New monitor - LG - UltraGear 27" IPS LED QHD FreeSync Monitor with HDR

I also made sure BIOS settings were correct for new RAM, and used samsung data migration software for SSD move. I had minimal crashing issues before new SSD, RAM, and Monitor, but it is significantly worse now.

OK,have you check those temps when playing fortnite? Also is the Fortnite game up to date?

I have checked the game and launcher are up to date and will runs smoothly for several games before crashing. I have checked the temperature immediately after gaming and didnt see an issue. I also ran MSI afternburner tests and temperature for GPU didn’t get too high.

Will open temp clock during game and see impact as well.

Reporting back, highest temp i saw on GPU was 76 C, when it crashed today it was 68 C.

                Thanks!

I am assuming you have good air flow thru out your pc? You may need to check the fan on that gpu and or your gpu may be failing..

Thanks - i will check airflow, the fans on it seem to work well. 2 on GPU, 6 on case.

Are those temperatures too high for a GPU?

Without even running the games, look like “AUXT1n1” is very hot. Not sure what hardware that is.

That one temp could be a malfunctioning sensor or not a sensor at all, considering all your other temps are ok..

Have you downloaded any software lately?

No software that I would consider to be an issue. Personally i think issue may have to do with data migration or new RAM. However, they perform well on UserBenchmark tests.

I would start taking it back to bare bones.
                              uninstall any software not required.
                              disconnect any hardware not necessary.
if fortnite can play in Safe Mode, reboot the PC into that.
try running the rig with only one memory stick.
run CCleaner and Glary Disk Cleaner to remove all the temp, cache and sundry files.

failing those suck-it-and-see throws of the dice, I’d be doing a clean install on that new SSD and going from there.
