New Monitor/Issues With Multiple Refresh Rates?

Hi there,

I am looking at buying this monitor for my rig, I have a nice setup and never got around to buying a nice monitor with some of the luxuries that this one has: https://www.newegg.com/black-asus-tu...82E16824281037

With that being said, I already have two HP 27f monitors that run at a 60hz refresh rate, I have seen a lot of people claiming that having varying refresh rates is a bad thing and can impact performance, while I have seen a few proclaimed “fixes”, I am unsure.

Is this a worthy investment with other monitors at running at 60hz?

The monitor will only be as good as your present hardware will allow it to be and being that we know nothing about your computer we cannot offer any opinion I`m afraid

Sorry, I forgot to include that, I have an EVGA 2080, an Intel i7 8700k, 32gb ddr4 3200 MHz, Asus Z390-E Gaming, SSD, Good PSU, etc. By no means incapable of running at such frame rates if I turn down some settings, but that’s not what I am questioning, I am questioning if it will struggle to utilize the higher refresh rate with the other said monitors (HP 27f’s)

Not sure what the fixes are to which you refer in your OP but after looking at your specs the only thing that would put me off the monitor is the 1.2 display port as opposed to the GPUs 1.4 display port, not sure if you have seen it but a good read here which provides a reviewers feedback regarding gaming with monitors that have different refresh rates, understand your concern though being that there is such a big difference between the refresh rates, if you have too many doubts, don[ICODE]t do it and being honest I[/ICODE]m not too sure that anyone that has experience of such a set will be likely to drop in here, in a nutshell, we cannot give you a definitive answer I`m afraid.

Not being sure is certainly something that is not comforting, it’s a lot of money to be spending on a possibly unusable product. Would it be wiser to purchase two 144hz?

If so do you have any recommendations? I was looking for a 144hz 27" g-sync compatible monitor with an ips panel and a 1ms response time, this seemed to be the best choice/cheapest of the bunch, but spending $900 on monitors alone simply isn’t in the budget for me.

Update: After some looking around I could potentially fund two, but is it worth it? I like the options and setting it has, and I could afford it with a bit of time, but is it worth it to have a monitor that nice just to sit around for discord, youtube, etc?

Did you notice that the screen at the link in your OP is sold out, $399 would be a good price for it if actually available as 144MHz screens do not differ much in price and many are more expensive.

If I were planning on such an upgrade I would stick with what you have until you have a comfortable amount saved to be able to purchase two screens of your preferred spec, the present two screens then put up for sale and the cash put towards screen #3 if you are still wanting to have three.

I am aware it is out of stock for the time being, however, they are getting in more soon. On top of that there are a few local shops that stock them as well as amazon (albeit more expensive). I noticed this and was wondering if they were better or not, good to know they are fairly comparable.

I do not need three, as fun as it would be, buying three is over half what my rig cost, I’m not thinking that’s a great investment for one more screen to sit around with nothing on it, if I need a third for non-gaming purposes I intend to keep my originals (as they are nice, just not for gaming).

I think I found my answer, if I want two it’s going to have to be the same, that’s fine, just something to factor in and account for in my budget.
