    My gaming laptop

I am mega confused, because I bought this gaming laptop in thought, that I can play any game in a low form of frame drop. The specs for the pc are gonna be posted below:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with Max-Q Design
    Intel(R) Core™ i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz
    16 GB RAM
    Windows 10 64-bit
    MSI-NL Eindhoven 5706 5692 er son

It’s not that its failing at doing it’s job, but I feel like it’s hiding it’s power under something, or it’s using it’s power up somewhere else. I changed everything to high performace:
Fan is on max speed, I cleaned it about 2 weeks ago (Inside and out)
I used about 3-4 malware detection apps to look, if theres any virus. It detected a bitcoin miner and a few other things, which I quarantined and removed.
Nvidia control panel, power options, LEGIT everything is set on high performace.
I installed all the latest drivers for my NVIDIA GPU, I did all the Windows updated I could find.

It just saddens me, that I look up a games min specs to see, if my pc will be able to run it. It always shows, that it can run on recommended settings (not minimum) and every time I boot it up, I have to run it on low specs. What I did notice is:

Every time I open task manager, to see what might be using up my CPU or GPU so much, the CPU counter quickly changes from 50-100% to about 1-10% (depending if I have anything turned on)

    Welcome to PCHF RordonGamsey,

Can I ask what games you are trying to play.

Download Process Explorer which you can obtain from here

Save it to your desktop then run it (Vista or Win7 - right click and Run as Administrator).

View, Select Column, check Verified Signer, OK

    Options, Verify Image Signatures

Click twice on the CPU column header to arrange things by CPU usage, this will put the services with the highest CPU usage at the top of the log.

    Wait a minimum of a minute then using the steps below grab an expanded screenshot and attach it to your next reply for us;

    To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start…all programs…accessories…paint…left click in the white area …press CTRL + V…click on file…click on save…save it to your desktop…name it something related to the screen your capturing… BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG …otherwise it may be to big to upload… after typing in any response you have… click on Upload a File to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

It doesn’t really depend on what game, because all games are having the same problem. If you do need examples, then I can say The Division 2, GTA V, Watch Dogs 1/2, Control and so on.

This is the processes photo. Im guessing the “System Idle Process” is making this into a problem. It’s at 99%

The reason why I asked what games you were trying to play was to see if they were all online games, I[ICODE]m not a gamer so don[/ICODE]t have much to do with FPS but I wish that I had a £ for every gaming related thread that I had helped solve with the common denominator being the internet service.

The stock speed of the CPU is below what is required for a couple of the games.

Nope, quite the opposite in fact, the higher the system idle and the lower the CPU usage the better.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

You should have correctly uninstalled all traces of Norton before installing Malwarebytes.

Having more than one AV installed on your computer is bad, it will slow down the computer, cause internet connection problems and leave you with no AV protection at all if they cancel each other out as they fight for resources.

Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.

If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

Ok, I uninstalled all the virus security programs I had (I beleave) and I will see about rezults. If it didn’t change anything, to bad I guess D I posted the info above again, just to give you an insight without the anti-virus programs.

It’s sad to say, but Norton doesn’t uninstall fully. I ran the specific tool to remove it (NRnR) about 3 times and checked the Apps on the control panel. It’s all gone, but still shows up on Speccy.

Unfortunately this can happen as a consequence of having multiple AVs installed, we may need to ask a security expert to step in here, they have tools that they use on those forums that are not used outside of the malware removal forums.

Got an early start tomorrow so will be going offline soon.

Post an Autoruns log for us, see here

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.

                              2: Double-click the “Autoruns.exe”.

3: Click on the "Hide Signed Microsoft and Windows Entries” option.

4: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.

5: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop > when you click on File > Save you will then get the option to Save as type, click the drop down tab, change it to Text and then click the Save button.

6: Attach to your next reply.
