Odd frame drops gaming on capable PC

I’ve been experiencing very annoying frame drops while gaming. I have a pretty decent gaming laptop that can usually run games without any issue. However, lately, I’ve been having trouble even with games that run very smoothly most of the time, like Overwatch (always around 100+fps but I’ve been getting lasting drops to the low 20s, stable 45fps in matches). The issue is frequently accompanied by stuttering of the audio and reduced responsiveness in general, and is intermittent with completely normal gameplay in between drops. I’ve already tried general fixes like Nvidia, Windows and Game Settings optimizations but got nowhere. These commonly start a few seconds after I get into the game, and I noticed that my GPU usage drops tremendously when the stuttering happens and rises when things work normally, stabilizing around 35%. I’d love to get some insight into this to get it fixed asap. Thanks in advance!

    Specs:

    | OS…Windows 10 |
    GPU…Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050Ti |
    CPU…Intel Core i7 7th gen (8 logical processors) |
    RAM…8GB |

    Benchmarks:

    UserBenchmarks: Game 15%, Desk 48%, Work 31%

    CPU: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/SpeedT...Q-CPU---280GHz | Intel Core i7-7700HQ | 67.1%

    GPU: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Faq/Ho...screte-GPUs/97 | Intel HD Graphics 630 | 5.5%

    HDD: https://hdd.userbenchmark.com/SpeedT...BA-MQ02ABD100H | Toshiba Notebook SSHD 2.5" 1TB | 34.9%

    RAM: https://ram.userbenchmark.com/SpeedT...AFR8N-UH-1x8GB | Hynix HMA81GS6AFR8N-UH 1x8GB | 41.4%

    MBD: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System...0-Gaming/47490 | Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming

I find it strange the Benchmarks just skipped the Nvidia GPU and used Intel HD Graphics instead…

I also ran various tests and got high CPU usage simultaneous to drops, but according to Task Manager, Overwatch is consuming the most at a mere 25%.

          Hi,

Have you set your power plan to high performance in the Windows control panel? Have you installed the latest drivers for your video adapter?

Are you running Windows 10 version 1909?
