Microstuttering Only while gaming (any game)

I realize this issue has probably been analyzed to death but I could really use some help. I continue to get micro stuttering while gaming. Anything else I do I don’t have this issue at all. I have attached my PC Specs from Speccy. I have tried everything and anything I could find posted online. NVIDIA Control Panel settings, disabling HPET, Clean install of windows (3 times), Clean install using DDU in safe mode of Nvidia drivers, Disabling Dynamic Tick, etc.

I usually handle all of my PC issues myself but I was frustrated enough to take it to a few different shops to have them look at it as well. I had 32gb of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3000mhz in there as of today and decided to swap it out with the same brand but 3600 mhz (2X8 gb in the correct slots for 2 sticks) thinking that maybe my RAM speed was creating a bottleneck for CPU. No dice there either.

I’ve also created the emptystandbylist task as well with a slight improvement but still quite noticeable. I’m attempting to game at 1440p btw. I understand certain games may not be fully optimized but I read in other forums that people are playing the same game as me with lesser hardware and achieving stable gameplay.

If it helps I’ve tried Metro Exodus (all different settings as I know ray tracing is a major tax on the GPU) and Destiny 2 recently. I had an EVGA 1080 TI FTW3 before upgrading to the 2080 TI Version. I also tried swapping out the GPU with my kids MSI GeForce RTX 2080 TI Gaming X Trio and had the same issues. Any help short of me burning this thing to the ground will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

When were the last Win 10 updates you have done lately? Hopefully some of our members will chime in soon..

I just updated to version 1903 last night/this morning. I was on 1809 which I had heard had some issues that potentially cause the micro stutters. Still the same issue under 1903 unfortunately.

Not sure if this is the cause but this was run on my NVME Samsung EVO 970 500 GB C Drive (Boot drive). One of the games I play is stored on here and both exhibit the same symptoms.

All top quality hardware which must be all the more frustrating for you

Have you tried restoring the default factory settings for the MB in the BIOS, if not, give that a try and likewise for testing purposes try running the GPU in the the other two PCI-E slots on the MB.

Are the debug LEDs on the MB not giving any clues.

My initial thoughts were that it could have been internet/steam related but the fact that playing a game stored on an SSD also exhibits the issue blows that theory out of the water.

The debug LEDs aren’t helping me at all lol. I’ve actually swapped out the motherboard with a new one of the same model and I’m still having the issue. This also made it so my MOBO is on default setting now. I did try swapping the GPU to another slot to no avail as well. All of this makes me think some software but with the clean install of Windows it doesn’t make sense. I thought internet at first as well due to us only having satellite available to us in the middle of a giant city for some reason but I swapped to my Verizon hotspot on the phone and I had the same issue. I don’t know what is making my NVME drives read so slow. I can’t find a BIOS setting nor anything Windows related that could cause them to read like that. I swapped them on to my Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon MOBO with no issue.

Hi arkaicfury. Have you installed all the latest drivers for your hardware including chipset, video, audio, network etc?

Have you tried disconnecting the other secondary SSD’s on your system and seeing if one of the SSD’s is causing micro stuttering? Are all the games installed on your primary SSD on the C drive?

As a last resort, you could look at swapping out the power supply and see if that makes any difference.

I did have everything up to date as well as disconnecting the other drives with no luck. The PSU was one item I hadn’t considered only due to the fact everything was being powered adequately according to monitoring softwares.
Believe it or not I have fixed the issue. Not entirely sure what caused this but my Windows install was gorked somehow. All 3 times I tried a clean install I used the same Windows install USB I had created on 4/29/19. My brother in law came over tonight and suggested I try a fresh install with a new copy of Windows on it. Poof like motherloving magic. All of my hardware is performing at full potential now

Thank you to everyone who took the time to help me. I greatly appreciate it!

Just as a note. We figured the copy of Windows ending up being the root cause due to the fact that I reinstalled all of the same programs/applications I had prior to the clean install.
