Because he doesn’t really know much about computers and I pretty much know everything as far as specs, installed software, etc. Also he doesn’t want to “deal with it”

Did you reinstall the proper Drives and in the proper order?
Checked the network setting?
Rebooted the entire network in the proper order?
Reset the network (Router, Modem, system) settings?
HDD?
With Windows 10 constantly updating?

I feel as though you guys think this is related to my other post, it’s not. That being said I did do all of that. The game he keeps having the issue in is Rust. He gets 60 frames on a good day and less than 20 when it’s not a good day. He has a 6500, 8gb ram, 1070, and a 1tb HDD and 240gb ssd.

Now yesterday I did try something and I feel as though it is a little bit worrying. I downloaded the passmark software to test the performance of his computer and no matter how many times to we tried to run it, it would freeze on the 3D graphics test and not continue at all. To me I feel as though it’s telling me there is something wrong with the GPU. Not just that but when he plays his games the GPU stays around 400- MHz and doesn’t really go any higher.

I don’t know if there is a test I can run to see whether his parts are running Luke they should be.

Can also be caused by interference in the lines, poor configurations, The ISP could be having issues, since you have ruled out some of the software issue is why we included hardware. So YES the test and things we would like to be done will be similar.

So I didn’t think what seemed to have been the cause of this would be this one program, but this whole time it was MSI Afterburner. He had installed it on the computer because he was checking temps, MHz, CPU/GPU usage and fps the whole time. However, uninstalled it this morning and has been working fine without any hiccups since.

I’m assuming it put like a limit on it or something (sort of like an “anti-overclock” I guess; if that is a thing?) but after it was uninstalled, no drops.

The issue is resolved and thanks for the input and help, you guys are always the best!

Perhaps you should steer clear of MSI afterburner as you have had created threads with issues with pc with that installed previously. Very similar issues.
