BIOS Flashback Failed

Hi all,

First off thank you for this resource and everyone who helps out on a daily basis.
I bought a new B650E Taichi Lite MB back in June and intended to start building it last night. I wanted to pair that with the 7800x3d.
I downloaded BIOS Version 3.10 from Asrock Support website and copied it over to a 32gb Sandisk, FAT32 formatted USB (renamed bios package to CREATIVE.ROM). I checked the drive (after the failure) and it is formatted as MBR.
I plugged the PSU into the wall, plugged the 24-pin PSU connector into the PSU/MB and turned on the A/C switch on my PSU.
I then inserted the USB drive into the correct USB port on the back of the motherboad (port underneath the LAN), pushed in the BIOS Flashback button on the back of the MB, LED started blinking red and then stopped blinking, but remained a solid red.

After (unfortunately) it failed, I realized that I didn’t HAVE to flash my BIOS right away..I could have just built my PC and then update after the first boot since there was supposed to be a BIOS present from the manufacturer. I was just following what a helpful person from YT advised.
My question is: since the BIOS flashback failed, which BIOS is currently on the MB? Would it be the one that was already installed before shipment, or nothing at all? I’m afraid that I screwed up my MB and lost sleep due to it :LOL: Any advice on what my next steps should be?

Sorry but your OP is a bit confusing so we need to ask a couple of questions.

Do you have these new parts up and running or are you having problems.

I haven’t installed any parts yet. I opened the motherboard package last night, and per a recommendation from YT (PCBuilder), he mentioned to flash the bios right out of the package to be up to date.

All I can say to alleviate your fears, is on the (very) few occasions I have had a BIOS firmware upgrade fail, the current firmware is unaffected.
Chances are great (but not 100%) that everything is fine.
You will have to build it to find out - good luck! (y)

Sorry but that is complete nonsense and in this instance for two reasons, the BIOS that your MB shipped with is compatible with the CPU so no update was required and it is far easier to update the BIOS on a fully functional computer.

Hindsight is 20/20… and the case may be that I completely missed the part where he said “Only do this if needed”. Regardless, my fingers are crossed that the initial BIOS that the MB shipped with is still present and wasn’t affected by the failed flashback

Hindsight is 20/20…

We have all had to learn and hopefully no harm has been done but for future reference before trusting anyone on YT your hardware installation guides are must reads first and if struggling at all post on a forum such as this and have a trusted advisor walk you through things, we are able to be held to account whereas unsubstantiated information post online leaves those that follow it up the creek without a paddle if something goes pear shaped.
