Hey, I’m kind of new to pc building. So last year I bought a pre built gaming pc, runs pretty good, it has a 3060 and a i5-10600kf 4.10GHz nothing crazy (planning to upgrade the CPU to a i9 later this year, (not just for gaming but for other tasks too like Video Editing, Graphics designing etc. Not sure what model would go best with the 3060.) And with the RAM it has only 16gb of ram ( DDR4 to be exact.. as it now.) Id like to upgrade to 32gb DDR5 just wondering if my motherboard is compatible with it or not, the RAM I’m planning to buy is the Vengeance RGB DDR5 32gb 6400Mhz - My motherboard: B560 PRO-E (MS-7D22).
Not sure if DDR5 RAM and what other CPU is compatible with my Motherboard.

Your current mobo is socket 1200 and all Core i9 processors are socket 1700.
It also only does DDR4.
So right of the bat, you are looking at a new motherboard, memory, and processor.
You’d probably be wise to get a better power supply (although you don’t mention the current one) and probably also a better GPU.
In short - have you considered just keeping the current old gal as is and use it as a second PC or sell it.
Then get a whole new rig, spec’d for gaming, rather than being a Frankenstein PC of different parts and generations.Comment
