Custom built PC takes 10 minutes to boot up

I built a music production rig about 3 years ago. The specs are:

[li]Motherboard: MSI B350 Tomahawk Plus.[/li][li]CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X[/li][li]RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600[/li][li]GPU: MSI GT 710 1GD3H LP[/li][li]OS: Windows 10[/li][li]SSD: SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series 2.5" 1TB SATA III V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-76E1T0B/AM[/li][/ul]
The problem I’ve encountered since day one is that it takes a very long time to boot up. I get to the spinning dots for Windows and after 10 minutes of that, it’s ready to go.

Has anyone run into this before?

Have you recently run TRIM on your drive?

Thanks jmarket , no I haven’t run trim at any point on the drive.

Go ahead and run the TRIM command and that should solve your issue.

To do so, open Defragment and Optimize Drives click Optimize

Thanks for the suggestion, I will run it. Let me ask you, I’ve had this problem since I built the PC, would this have been the problem since the start?

SSDs work different than HDD. When files are deleted, they’re not overwritten they’re just “flagged” and over time that can cause degradation of performance severely and increase wear and tear on the SSD controller to the point of failure.

how is the SSD setup in BIOS - AHCI or IDE?
do you have it connected to a 6Gb/s SATA port?
was Windows installed from scratch or did you clone the old PC onto the SSD?

To add to what has been stated.

Would suggest that if not already BACK UP your personal data. (2 or more external drives)

So other can assist let get a speccy report.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Go ahead and run the TRIM command and that should solve your issue.

To do so, open Defragment and Optimize Drives click Optimize

It looks like optimize is already selected. I ran trim again but no luck.

It’s running in ahci mode and the port is 6Gb/s sata 3. This was a fresh Windows install.
