Help in Troubleshooting my PC

With a help of my friend I build my PC 3 years ago, but since a couple months it started to crash, freeze and sometimes randomly crashing some apps (i.e. Discord)
The Windows blue screens keep giving different error codes ( IRQL errors are commom tho), I resintalled Windows 10 but still got this problem, and I can’t recover my Linux boot because Live disks keep freezing too.
However, those crashes are fair less likely to occour when the PC is loaded, like when I’m playing game (i.e. Dead by Daylight or League of Legends).
I already run a memtest and GPU stress test with no problems, and I don’t know what else should I do to try find and solve it.

The Specs are:
Motherboard: Asus Prime B450M-Gaming/BR

How what method? Did you install the drivers in the proper order?

Do not forget to post the make and model of the PSU if this is a desktop.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

I installed Windows 10 with an Live USB from my roommate.
For drivers, I download the Radeon software for the GPU and the rest I let Snappy Driver Installer handle it
However, I think it may not be a drivers problem since my Linux live USBs also freeze

Why you do not want to use third part crapware like that.
Page 1 of 2 - Pros and Cons of Driver Booster 2 ? - posted in All Other Applications: What are the Pros & Cons of Driver Booster 2 ?   Is it safe to be used by a somewhat computer illiterate person , if safe at all ?   Is it reliable ?   Is there any known problems to it or but use of it ?   Would you use it ? If not , then why and what is your best alternative ?

Did you make changes to the BIOS so Linux will load?

The change that are made in the BIOS will need to be changed back for Windows to work properly.

No, both are run on the default config (wich uses “compatibility mode”, using UEFI). I tried switching to Legacy but Boot repair asks to switch back

eliminate the crapware
Download the proper drivers

Preform a System File Checker

Then install the drivers in the proper order starting with the Chipset and motherboard drivers.

If that does not work might want to look into a fresh install.

Not counting the fact that your primary drive is to small and you are quickly running out of space. Should be 250 GB to 500 GB minimal and that still depends on what the system is used for.

Partition 2
Partition ID: Disk #0, Partition #2
Disk Letter: C:
File System: NTFS
Volume Serial Number: 74D179A2
Size: 111 GB
Used Space: 56 GB (50%)
Free Space: 54 GB (50%)

Way to small for windows needs.
For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update windows requires 32 GB free space on C drive available at all times, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

Then there is also reserved around 7-20 GB for future updates.

The less space you have the harder the drive and more issues you will have.

Adding on to Rustys - another issue, junk PSU.

That power supply is garbage (VS/CV is corsair’s value line), scoring an F (Replace immediately) with the people who test PSUs. A good power supply for gaming needs to be 80+ Gold rated and will carry a 10-year warranty. Anything else isn’t worth putting in a system, especially not a white label 3-year warrantied unit.

Done.

File System Check found corrupted files, log is linked (CBS.log).

Yet the crashes continues.

My friend run some Prime97 CPU stress tests and it got errors (“Prime95 rounding was 0.5 expected 0.4” with some variance on the 0.5). We searched info about it and found out “Rounding errors in Prime95 usually are caused by low CPU or RAM voltage.”, so we tinkered the RAM and CPU voltages on the BIOS until we get error free on 4 consecutive tests with 10 min each.

Our ending configuration was leaving RAM voltage unchanged and increasing CPU voltage by 0.075V. It’s been running for 3 hours without crashes, but I think it’s too soon to call it solved.

He says maybe the problem is on the CPU and auto-overclocking, and that it shorted the CPU lifespan.

Also, I would like to ask if it would be better to put Windows on the HD with a bigger partition, is it worth since I would loss the SSD speed? Windows on SSD still felt slower than HD Linux.

Could it be the source of the low voltage error detected on Prime97 test? My friend have a spare PSU but it will be a bit of work to swap for tests, not sure if I have time to do it before weekend

Bad PSUs are a pretty common source of BSODs and power related faults, what PSU does your friend have?

As he says, “Apex Gaming, 800w 80plus gold”

It didn’t crash anymore, neither underloaded or overloaded.

Today I recovered my GRUB, but Ubuntu boot freezes. It happend before, I already got help on a forum sometime ago but I didn’t have time to check if it’s the same issue or a different problem. If anyone curious this is the thread

So, the system is working properly?

post another speccy report.
