    USB header adapter required

I’m upgrading some of my parts, and checked system compatability on pcpartpicker.com.

    Components I’m going to get:
    • Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II ATX AM4
    • Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX

    The compatability notes say that
    • A USB 2.0 to USB 3.2 Gen 1 header adapter is required.
    • A USB 3.2 Gen 1 to USB 3.2 Gen 2 header adapter is required.

Can someone clarify the meaning of these. I suppose the latter one refers to the front panel USB-C port, for which the motherboard doesn’t have a header?
    Thanks.

I recall from your previous thread here that you had a Ryzen 5 2600 you make no mention of having changed it so what CPU do you have.

Im getting a Ryzen 7 5800X when I upgrade the motherboard and case.

Oh and by the way, I managed to solve the no post issue. One of my dimm sticks is broken and so I thought that I might aswell upgrade some other parts. Luckily the RAM has warranty.

Had to ask in case you intended using the 2600 in the new MB.

Not sure why you are being told that you need adapter as both the MB and case have the ports that you mention, are you sure that by adapters they don`t just mean cables that are not provided with either the case or the MB.

I went back and checked. I didn’t change anything but this time the notes stated that
          • The Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case front panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port needs a motherboard USB 3.2 Gen 2 header but none are available. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port will not be usable.

          So problem solved. Thanks anyway.
