The ports on the front of a PC

I am building my own PC, and I need some specific ports on the front of it. What is the section called, and what part affects what ports I get? I am not talking about the individual ports like the USB or aux, but rather the entire section.

It is referred to as the “Front I/O” with I/O being short for Input/Output.

To get different selections, you will need to look at what your case includes, one may have 2 USB and a headphone port while the other might have 3 and a headphone/mic port.

Generally you will find: USB ports 2/3.1, USB C, A power button, possibly a restart switch, and a auxiliary microphone/headset port (possibly a combination of the two).

whenever I’ve want special things on the front, I have used the 5" or 3" drive bays.
lots a things are made to slide into those.

in the past I’ve had tape decks, 2.5" drive RAID unit, fan controllers, audio controllers, extra USB3 ports, temperature readouts - the list goes on.
