    Wireless Internet Connection Problems

Hello All, Trying to connect my old Dell Dimension E521 to the internet (Optimum Altice) using a wireless signal detector ( A dual band usb adapter) 600 mbps, usb 2.0 speed. The problem i am running into is that the antennae is picking up my router signal, but when it comes to entering my password it is not letting me in. My password is correct, still no dice…can someone please help me out? Thanks in advance

just to prove the USB wifi adapter does work, log onto your router and remove the password for your wireless network (your SSID), effectively making it an open network.
then test the USB adapter connects.
if it does, the adapter may only work on WPA1 or WPA2 or such. in other words, setup the router to transmit a wireless technology that is compatible with the adapter.

yep, give as the make/model of the router as all of them can be logged into and configured accordingly.
also include the make/model of the USB wifi adapter.
