PC won't turn on

Hey everyone.
I have recently been having an issue where the pc i built won’t turn on for long periods of time since last shut down. Usually i have to wait hours before i can turn it back. On top of that, for the first time today while i was about to start a game my pc turned off by itself and after 2 hours i still an unable to turn it back on. Would appreciate any help and please lmk if you need further details!

With out COMPLETE system specs we can not assist.

When you power it on and it does not what sounds do you hear?
What lights come on and what color and or flash pattern are they?

Yep so my pc specs are:
-Intel i7-9700F
-Cooler Master masterliquid ML240R
-16gb ram
-MSI Gtx 1050ti
-MSI z370 gaming plus motherboard
-Cooler Master 650 Gold fully modular power supply
-XPG spectrix S40G 512 GB m.2 SSD
-running latest Windows 10
-asus network adapter

• also a few phanteks neon strips

When I attempt turning on the pc after a while it just makes a click sound. No lights appear

How old is the system?

Could be the switch that has gone let see if bypassing it has any affect.

If not then it could be the power supply unit make sure that all the cables are connected securely and have not come loose.

Is the Liquid cooler is running and there is fluid in the system?

Connected to the CPU securely?

The click sound would depend on where it was coming from

in case it may be overheating, open up the case and clean all the fans, heatsinks and radiator vanes.
when it does eventually start, keep an eye on the temps with something like HWMONITOR.

Okay i’ll give that a shot! what tempertaures for the cpu and gpu respectively would be considered too high?

I will have a look tonight and get back to you! The parts very from age as i have upgraded a lot over the years however the motherboard is about 5-6 years old. Also im fairly sure that the soundis coming from the power supply

Sorry for sending so many messages
So i tried the the website you sent me in order to bypass the switch and the pc still did not turn on. I am certain now that the click noise comes from the power supply. I made sure that all cables were all properly plugged in and still no luck. Reinstalled the AIO cooler and ram and stilll nothing happened. Its odd because same thing tonight when i was trying to play Valorant and as soon as i got a game the PC turned off…exact same thing as the night before. Not sure if that information is relevant but it seems too much coincidence to ignore. I am not too sure how to check if there is any liquid in the cooler. The cooler itself is just under 4 years i believe…same as power supply.

Unless @Bruce has any other suggestions I would have to say sound like the power supply could be going.

For the cooler do you hear any gurgling sounds
Do you hear the pump running
Can you feel the liquid flowing through the pipes

Reinstalled the AIO cooler

Did you reapply thermal paste.

Yes actually I did hear a gurgling noise this morning.

those temps are right in the ball park - nothing to worry about there.
which sadly puts the onus on the power supply, supported by tyhe lack of turning on, and the clicks.
a $30 PSU tester would confirm that, they have like 8 LED’s on them that check all the power rails (3, 5, 12v) and over current, under current - all the basic things, and if any LED is red it means a faulty PSU.

so you could fork out for one of those, but from what you have said, my money would be on the PSU.

pretty sure CoolerMAster only do one year warranty, but check that.
and when you get the new one, go for 80+ Gold and a brand that offers at least 5 year warranty, some do 10, I’ve even seen 12.
Corsair and EVGA are some of the good ones that I have used.

Okay! Thank you so much for your help! My brother has a gaming pc with same power supply so i’ll give it a swap and see if it’s working

Yes i had a look today and it comes with 5 years warranty so i’ll geti n touch with the retailers.

So I just finished swapping over the power supplies and my PC is fully functional now! Looks like i will have to get it swapped over
