    help

    someone told me that my 300w psu wont work with a gt 1030 i would like a second opinion so i know

    hello i am installing a gt 1030 from newegg that im going to buy soon
    i need to know if my psu can handle this thanks

    MSI say here 300W but be aware that not just some el cheapo PSU can be used, some PSUs labelled as 300W can only produce something like 180W.

    Stick with a proven brand and you will be fine.

      the brand im using a hp psu that came with my pc originally can i rely in that thanks

        HP do not use good quality PSUs and they are in fact one of the companies that are guilty of using junk PSUs that can`t produce what is stated on the label.

        Take the side off your case and check the information label on the PSU, the brand could be Delta and the Max output stated as either 180 or 260W, the Max output is the true figure and the combined figure of 300W is a play on words as it is only the power on the +12V rail that gets measured and not the figures on the +3.3 and +5V rails which btw are both fed from the same +12V rail that provides the Max output figure.

            The above post before we had your pic which confirms a max output of 260W which is no good for your intended GPU.[/color][/color]
