Old hp case for new build first build what size Motherboard fits it

Hi I am using my old Hp Media centre Case m7000 Product number is m7310.uk what size motherboard fits my case as I am not sure.

The info that I am finding using your “Hp Media centre Case m7000 Product number is m7310.uk” info says the computer shipped with a micro ATX board, you can confirm this for yourself at the link here

Please note that many OEM brand cases have an additional post inside of the case where the corner of the original MB would have been located, if there is such a post inside your case you should remove it so that it does not short out any new board.

Hi thanks for your reply I have removed that stud and would I need to install motherboard standoffs in my case or use the ones that where in case originally

It normally depends on two things, does the MB/case require them and/or are they required in order for the I/O ports on the MB to align with the opening on the back of the case.

Your pictures show raised mounting points for the MB which suggests that no stand offs were in use with the previous MB, is that correct.

Do you have the replacement board yet, if yes, post the brand and model name or number here for us.

The original motherboard was just mounted on the raised mounting points like you said earlier. The motherboard I am fitting is a Gigabyte GA-F2A78M-HD2 Motherboard.

Hi another question can I upgrade my case fan on my pc case it has got standed fan on rear of case and can I add more fans to my case and I am not sure what size fan I have got

Is it best to wear a anti static wrist band to protect new motherboard and other components.

Apologies for the delay getting back to you, working seven days a week leaving little to no time for the forum atm

The replacement board is also the micro ATX type but always air on the side of caution and compare the two boards to make sure that the screw mounting points line up.

If you wish to add more cooling fans you will need to get the type that are powered from the PSU as the replacement board only has two fan headers, one for the processor and one system fan such as the one that you have at the rear of the case.

Wearing an anti static strap is optional as you can ground yourself on a metal part of the case or PSU before handling any components which does the same thing.
