Okay, so my computer is by far the best, but for now it will happily do what I want it to do (barring a recent problem with my water cooler). Though I’m now looking into the direction of VR gaming. I know full well my PC is by far outmatched when it comes to being “VR ready”. So I was wondering what would make a good VR build?
Naturally, I turned to google and youtube. So I had a look around and was able to get a feel for a half-decent build, capable of VR. I’ve got some core items ready, but naturally, I’m still unsure on parts, such as the GPU, and particularly the PSU, so I need a little bit of advice, if you guys would be so kind. So the parts I have listed are as follows.

You’ll notice that there is no PSU, no Case and no CPU cooler. There are reasons for this.
No PSU - to be honest, I know I want a modular for cable management, but I have no idea what wattage I would need, and which model to go for, after all my past choices in PSU’s have been terrible.
No case - I’m going to use my current case, I like the layout of it, and the way the fans are situated, but I am thinking about taking the RGB controller out, and hooking the fans up directly. After all, I’ll have a headset on and wont be looking at how pretty my case is.
No CPU cooler - I’ve heard stories that the cooler that comes with the 1700 is a good one, even able to handle medium over clocks of the chip (I’m not planning on overclocking, don’t worry) so I thought I’d go without one, but no doubt, I’ll probably not trust the stock cooler and go with a maelstrom 120k.
Now, the build is probably the most expensive I’ve ever made, and not only that I wont be able to get all parts immediately, it will probably be around Christmas time that it’s complete. If I can save money without sacrificing performance, I’ll most likely do it. I was aiming for the £1,000 pound mark as I still need to buy the HTC Vive, but as you can see, I’ve already hit that mark, which is not a huge problem, I just like limits so I don’t go nuts.
So, now that all is out, what do you think? what would you recommend? and more importantly, what PSU should I get?
