Games launch in fullscreen but part of the screen is cut off – how to fix it?

(At the start all the text is translate from polish lang so can be some mistakes)
Hello. I’m experiencing an issue where games do launch in fullscreen mode, but about one-third of the screen is cut off, making them unplayable. You can see the problem in the attached photo. I understand that this device is not ideal for gaming, but the system requirements for the game (from 2002) are met. I hope there’s something you can suggest to help fix this.

Here are the details of device:
    Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
Laptop: Lenovo Yoga Book 1st generation
Integrated graphics: Intel HD Graphics 400 (I’m not entirely sure about the exact model)
Drivers: I’ve installed the latest available drivers (couldn’t find newer ones)
    Screen resolution: 1920x1200
    RAM: 4GB
    Processor: Intel Atom x5-Z8550
Games are installed from original discs

Thank you in advance for your help!

Lock the screen in landscape and disable Windows “fullscreen optimisations”
Rotate the tablet to landscape, open Action Center - Rotation-lock and make sure it is On.
    Right-click the game’s .exe - Properties - Compatibility

    [ul]
    [li]Tick Disable fullscreen optimisations[/li][li] Click Change high-DPI settings - tick Override high-DPI scaling and choose Application.[/li][li] Apply - OK.[/li][/ul]

This stops Windows from trying to stretch the image in strange ways on a high-DPI touch screen.

Install Intel Graphics Command Center from the Microsoft Store if you don’t already have it.
Launch it - Display (tab) - General
Under Scaling, pick Maintain Aspect Ratio.
Keep the change, then start the game again.

If “Maintain Aspect Ratio” is greyed out, temporarily change the Windows desktop resolution to the game’s resolution (e.g. 1024×768), set the scaling to “Maintain Aspect Ratio”, click Apply, then switch the desktop back to 1920×1200—the setting sticks for the lower resolution.
    Intel

(Older drivers call the menu Intel Graphics Control Panel - Display - Scaling; select Scale Full Screen or Maintain Aspect Ratio and hit Apply.

So you have tried as I suggested? I am unclear due to translation? Use this translator it is pretty accurate.

Generally, the only thing that changed is that now instead of seeing a black screen on the right side, I see the desktop. Otherwise, there are no results. I’m guessing it’s still a hardware issue because, for example, the game ‘Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes’ works perfectly fine in fullscreen mode. So, it’s either an issue with the old software or the hardware.

[li]Some users have reported success by editing the game’s configuration files. In the game’s installation folder, look for a folder named Res (e.g., Sierra\EmperorRotMK\Res).[/li][li]Inside, find a file named GameOptionsCtrl.cfg. Open it with a text editor like Notepad.[/li][li]Look for lines related to resolution or screen size (e.g., width and height). Change these values to match your monitor’s resolution (e.g., for 1920x1080, set width=200 and height=250, as suggested in a City Builders Forum thread). Save the changes and launch the game.[/li][li]Note: This method may stretch the game and isn’t guaranteed to work perfectly, as the game wasn’t designed for widescreen resolutions.[/li][/ul]
Cesarz is an older game (released in 2002) and natively supports only 4:3 resolutions like 800x600 and 1024x768, which can cause issues on modern widescreen displays. By default, it may not open in full screen on modern Windows systems (like Windows 10 or 11) due to resolution mismatches or scaling issues. Here’s how you can make it open in full screen:
                            Grok
