    Keyboard problem

When I boot up, (Dell Vostro 3471 Desktop) four out of five times I get “Keyboard not recognised” message and my passcode can’t be typed in.

I’ve tried three good keyboards and I get the same message, I’ve changed the 3v battery ( the one I changed still had 3v’s) I have also reset the BIOS to Default and done a hardware test and there are no problems.

    Any ideas guys?

Hi, yes, tried all the ports? I’m wondering if restore to an earlier date might work?

Power down your pc and unplug keyboard. Restart pc and then plug keyboard back in. See if that helps.

I will tag some members for more help..

Thanks, I’ll try that but my experience in the past is that hardware has to be recognised on bootup and adding later doesn’t work?

Mouse is also USB cable and it never gives the same error?

Any other USB connected devices that may be drawing too much power?
Test by only having the keyboard attached, disconnect all other USB peripherals.

Mouse never gives an error, just did the scan with just keyboard and monitor connected and all pass.

                        That’s good.
Now try adding one USB device at a time and see when the problem happens.
