Dell P2416D Monitor Issue - Sudden Black Screen on Laptop Connection

Hi everyone,

I have a monitor (Dell P2416D) that goes black whenever I try to connect it to my laptop. It turns on and starts for a second, then immediately turns black.
This happened all of a sudden. Should I bother taking it to a repair shop, or is it dead?

Does this happen on the built-on screen?

The laptop works fine on other monitors. I actually was using this monitor with the laptop fine for a few years, but all of a sudden it started to act like this regardless if the device it’s connected to.

That model of screen was released eight years ago so would be no shock to find that it needs to be replaced.

In that case I will have to agree with @phillpower2 the display has finally gone.

Especially since it is reacting in the same way connected to other devices.

Yes, it’s quite an old monitor but it did work great for all of those years.
I think I agree with you guys and I’ll need to replace it.

Do you have any suggestions for a good replacement? I want a 28" one which I use mostly for work (I work in software development) but I occasionally use it for my Xbox.

The only suggestion is go with name brands.

Not the newest model that just came out I always do prior years model.
Seen users and personally had issues with the newest and greatest.
