    Dualshock 4 wont connect via usb

    I am trying to connect my dualshock 4 to my pc via usb as I have had latency issues with bluetooth, however when trying the usual method of just plugging the usb into the pc and than the controller it does nothing but charge. I went out of my way to get a data transfer cable to ensure that wasn’t the issue, testing it with my wacom tablet which worked with no problems immediately. I’ve tested other dualshock controllers and none will connect, checked to update drivers to no avail, and I am completely unsure what else to do now so any help would be appreciated!

      I would download DS4Windows & see if this shows the DS4. Windows doesn’t support the DS4/DS5 natively.
      DS4Windows is a gamepad input mapper and virtual emulator designed to connect, use and customize your PS4/PS5 Controller on Windows 10/11 PC.

      Are you 100% sure the cable is charge & sync compatible?

        I use DS4 and it isn’t detected by it let alone my pc at all on any level. I tested the controller with the cable on my partners PC who also has ds4 (although it was not running) and it immediately worked, saying the device was being set up and after a few seconds worked with steam and that is as far as I tested as it was further than I got on my pc. I am thinking it is something with it not registering the controller as a new device but when I go to delete the current controllers from the known devices it says removal failed.

          As far as I am aware they are, but would you be able to walk me through that process just to make sure I have checked and updated the right drivers. I have also done a reset on the controller but sadly it has not worked.

            This not my forte but i will try follow the instructions . From here from the link i gave you…

            [HEADING=1]How to Reset Your PS4 Controller[/HEADING]
            A “soft reset” generally refers to turning a computer or device off and then on again, which flushes out memory and can correct many issues.

            In doing a PS4 controller soft reset, we’ll also reset the connection between the controller and the console. However, you can only do this if you have a second PS4 controller. If you don’t have an extra controller, skip ahead to the directions on performing a hard reset.

            Follow these steps to soft reset your PS4 controller:

            Then if the soft reset doesn’t work at he end of a soft reset try the hard reset.

                  Hi all! Thank you so much for you help but I found the solution messing around on my own. The device was not being detected as a different device from when it was connected via bluetooth as far as I am aware, and so I went into my device manger and found it while it was connected, checked for drivers to update which did not work, so deleted the device and did a clean install of the drivers again, and immediately it fixed!
                  I appreciate all your help none the less and hope this helps anyone with the same issue!
