I have just bought a new external HDD (to make a clone of my C-drive, so that I don’t have the horrors of last year, in which the heat wave made all my HDD’s pop one by one). I pu it i the caddy. Before I switch on the caddy, the light on the transformer is on solid, but when I switch it on, it blinks slowly until I switch it off again. There is no noise or vibration coming from the HDD. Is this a problem with the (entirely new!) HDD or from the caddy (which I haven’t used for a long time)? Might it be a jumper issue? With thanks in advance.
can you take the external caddy out of the equation, just test the new HDD, by putting the drive directly into the PC, assuming it’s a desktop, but we don’t even know that.
