    Bluetooth stops working allot

    Hello,

So my problem is that I have a wireless headphone and mouse that are connected to bluetooth. Almost every day I have that both my mouse and headphone stops working at the same time for about 15 seconds and then they start working again. Sometimes they don’t even come back and I have to restart my pc to get my mouse and headphone back. It is really annoying. Please anyone any tips?

g’day and welcome to the forums.

Let’s get your complete PC specs.
get Speccy from here; Speccy - Download Builds
in Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot (hit Yes if prompted to proceed with publish) > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
now you can paste (Ctrl+V) that link into your next post.

one component Speccy doesn’t cover is the Power Supply Unit, so also include the make/model of the PSU.

if they are connected, your headphones and mouse should be in the Speccy report, but just in case, give us the make/model of those as well.

to open your desktop and check the power supply’s make/model, you just have to unscrew the side cover.
you won’t be touching cables, or adjusting components, just a quick open, look, then close.
knowing the power supply details can be very helpful. (y)

I see Windows was reloaded this year, was there a reason for that?
        something not working or similar?
were you having the disconnect issue with the headset/mouse prior to the Windows reload or only since?

go to Control Panel, Programs & Features and remove McAfee WebAdvisor.
you may need to use the McAfee removal tool from their website.

your free space on your C:\ drive is critical, almost none left what so ever.
this could easily be the root cause of your issue.

the following can help reclaim some drive space.
CCleaner (free version) or Glary Disk Cleaner or the inbuilt cleanmgr command can do most of those points.

          Also check:
Uninstall the device from device manager if possible and restart Bluetooth service.
          Start > services.msc
          Right-click “Bluetooth Support Service.”
          Choose Automatic.
Go to device manager and right-click on your computer name and click “Scan for hardware changes”
Install the Bluetooth device drivers from the manufacturer’s website, if any.

If the device isn’t showing under device manager or under show hidden devices then shutdown the pc, unplug the power cable & then reconnect, then go to device manager & see if there’s any unknown devices showing, if so uninstall this & then scan for hardware changes & hopefully Bluetooth will reappear.

Yep and whoever did the reinstall did so badly.

This computer needs a new SSD just for installing Windows and the system drivers to, the 1TB after being cleaned up should also be marked as a non bootable drive and the Windows OS on it kept as a back up.

I removed the McAfee WebAdvisor and cleaned up the C:\ drive with glary disk cleaner and removed allot of other stuff I had on there. I now have 223 GB of 953 GB free space. Would this be enough? When I reloaded Windows it was because there was a weird Chinese parental software on my pc. I tried to remove it but no matter how I tried it still on there or still parts of it are on there even after the reload. The bluetooth/headset/mouse issues were before the reload and before that weird chinese stuff got on my pc aswell.
I’ll try and open the desktop when I get back from work to see if I can do that easily or not

Okay I put the Bluetooth support service to automatic. I checked on the manufactor website but all the drivers should be up to date

Have you compared the installed driver version with the version on the manufacturer’s website? If they’re the same then they’re fully up to date.

Double check that the Bluetooth service is still set to automatic, if it isn’t then something is changing that setting.

If you want to gain some more space you can turn off hibernation. It uses a file called hyberfil.sys and this file, over time can grow to multi GB size and get corrupted. It’s one of the first things I turn off on any system I manage including laptops, 3 home PC’s, 14 at work without issue.
                        To do this:
Click the start button, type cmd, then CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.
An elevated command prompt will or should open.
In this prompt, type powercfg -h off and reboot. If or some reason you want it back on, just reverse the process with powercfg -h on.

Some of the Asus bloat might be causing issues for instance, if the Asus module is trying to manage the BT and then the manufacturers driver tries it can cause problems.

I also noticed the power scheme is Asus managed, this could very well be the culprit as it might be “putting the BT to sleep” or some other odd thing.

In the same command prompt as above type powercfg /list. Copy and paste the result in your next post please.

In the same command prompt type powercfg /setactive 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e

run the powercfg /list after you complete the above and copy/paste the results.

                              See if your issue remains.
