Hey all,

When I got on my computer today I came to find my second monitor in a state that appears to be broken af. Im not sure which type of monitor it is, so I attached the name to the thread title. To try and be more specific, im going to assume it’s an lcd. If so, it appears as if there something wrong with the crystal layer/rgb layer of the monitor. I was wondering of there was some way to reset it or if it was just time to get a new one.

What if anything have you tried already.

Provide information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the CPU, MB, the RAM (including the amount) add on video card if one is used and the PSU (power supply unit) providing these details will enable folk to better help you.

Here. Its a custom build. I9-10850k CPU, 3070 GPU, msi Z490, 32gb corsair vengeance RAM.

We are missing the PSU and exact RAM details + you have not told us what if anything you may have tried already, us repeating stuff wastes everyone’s time.

Your picture does not necessarily suggest that the screen has the problem, a bad video port, dodgy cable and weak PSU are just three things that could cause the screen to look the way that it does.

Soz, I didnt post the rest, cause he screen has been functioning perfectly fine for about 2 or 3 years now. But I have a Thermaltake 850W PSU, and I believe the the RAM is 3200 mhz and has a cl rating of 16.

I tried powering it on and off and that did t work. I tried switching inputs, and when I did, the options came up perfectly alright, but when I switched back to my display port input it was the same as before. I tried changing the resolution to something besides 1080. And it kinda of fixed it, but it was only slightly less tracky. The monitor is refurbished though, so I suspect its something on that end. But im just confused since I barely ever touch the thing.

Oh snap, i just went back to my computer, and now my second monitor is fine, but my primary one is now all tracky.

Suggests an issue with the GPU and not the screen, it could be something else affecting the card so we need to know the exact PSU model name and number + how old it is.

That is the wrong RAM for the CPU, Intel say here that 2933MHz is the max.

Two things for you to try;

Move the GPU into the other PCI-E slot.

Remove the GPU from the MB altogether and connect the screens to the video ports on the MB.

While inside the computer, reseat the RAM and make sure that all internal connections are secure.

Ok, I re seated the RAM and GPU, and its is now functioning normally. Im not sure what caused it to do that in the first place, but I thank you for your input, and hope that it doesn’t happen again.

A loose card or memory stick causing a bad connection can such behaviour which was why the check/s were suggested.
