i need to scan a document but my printer has no print head installed
i have been informed that it can be done using windows fax and scan software
my computer can see the printer via usb but wont preview or scan
my printer is a canon pixma mg7550 . . . all the function buttons are touch type
so cant be accessed since it wont boot past the initial error message

have you tried doing a scan?
but yeah - if the printer can’t get past its Power On Self Test cycle, I doubt it’ll be in a state that the PC will accept. you’ll probably see ‘printer offline’ or ‘printer unavailable’ messages.
