Monitor is detected, has power, will not display

I have an AOC Q3279WG5B running as my second monitor, my PC can detect that monitor when connected. However, the monitor will not display. I have tried running the system in duplicate and extend modes. I have used both display port and hdmi connections, swapped out the power lead and tried running the AOC monitor from my laptop. I had the same issue with my laptop.

I suspect it is a power issue with the AOC monitor, as when it is powered, I am unable to turn it off. When I press the power button, nothing happens. When I turn off the PC the monitor should enter standby mode, however the LED simply retains the ‘on and active colour’.

I have had this issue once before, about 18 months ago. That time the monitor was still in warranty so I sent it back to be repaired. Apparently they were ‘unable to replicate the fault’ and the monitor returned working perfectly. It is now out of warranty.

If anyone had any ideas would be appreciated.

You are going to need the services of a local TV engineer I`m afraid.

Think you may be right, chatted to an electrical engineer friend of mine and he guessed the cooling system on the monitor may be stuffed. To be honest, given how much I paid, not sure whether it is worth getting fixed or just buy a new one.

One or more bad caps on the power board was my first thought when I read your OP, they can be replaced but you will need to be able to recognise failed capacitors, be able to source replacements and have a steady hand with a soldering iron.
