    Remove non-existing monitor

    Hey!

I recently (about a week ago) bought a new monitor to have a Dual Monitor setup. The setup was pretty simple with the cables and such and when it’s active it works totally fine. However since i plugged the new monitor, a third Non existing monitor has appeared existing outside of the screen. Normally that wouldn’t really bug me, the problem though is that if i close the screen seperately and open it again the computer sometimes switch to the non existing monitor so my main screen is out of frame/out of reach for me leaving me in a troubled situation where i must restart the computer to have the right screen again…

My question here is if any chance i could remove the third screen option since i won’t be needing that. If not i would atleast want some kind of way to prevent the third “phantom screen” to stop taking over my main screen

How are both monitors connected? Are they using the same connection via a splitter?
Can you click on the ghost monitor & remove it? Screen resolution>Disconnect this display.
Does this monitor show up under device manager?

Well.. They are not using a splinter, they are separate from each other. And yes, the device manager shows 3 monitors even though i only have two screens.. I tried right now clicking on “inactivate” on the screen. To be honest i don’t know if that helped. Haven’t been to long since then - I’ll have to wait and see. But thanks for the tips!

How do both monitors connect - HDMI, DVI etc?
I hope the fix is still working.
