    The letter "d" doesn't work

    Hi everybody,

Posting here for the first time for a friend.
2 days ago, she was playing League of Legend, made a Alt+Tab to get into the windows screen. She tried to type a message but the letter “d” from her keyboard refused to work.

We all thought it was her keyboard, so we told her to check with a new one. Problem is ? The Letter “d” works with some games (League of Legends for example, but not in Wow), and it also works to type her password on the login screen. But when she’s logged in, and she wants to type “d” on Google chrome, word or discord, the letter doesn’t work.

It’s really specific, we tried :
    • Chaging the keyboard : same result, the letter “d” didn’t work.
    • We tried to use Sharp Keys tool to remap his letter d. Didn’t work.
    • We removed and reinstalled the drivers : Didn’t work.
    • We obvisouly tried to plug out and plug in the keyboard. Didn’t work.
    • We tried to find if she activated a game mode on her keyboard : seems that her Keyboard doesn’t have one.
    • We tried to remap the key in binary using a regedit Scancode Map, 2 things :
      ---- We tried to remap d to d : didn’t work
---- We tried to remap the “d” key to scroll Lock : It worked. When she pressed “d”, the scroll lock led went on.
---- We tried to remap the “Scroll Lock” key to d, at least if the “d” wasn’t working she could type “d” by using the Scroll Lock button : doesn’t work…

We’re a bit lost at the moment, it seems that windows doesn’t want her to type “d”, but just “d”.

Her keyboard : hp keyboard kb-0630
    She’s on Windows 10.

If you need some information, please ask, i’ll try to get them.
Thanks by advance for any help or advice !

Is it working on Safe Mode?

Did you try uninstalling not just the drivers but the K/B itself from Device Manager and then restart?

Hey, thank you for your answer.

      We just tested :
      • Safe mode : D is working !
      • We tried to unistall the keyboard from the device manager, when she restarts it comes back like nothing happend and the d is still not working.

(can’t edit sorry for the double post)

We tried to create another user session, it works perfectly. So the problem has to be with the session… it really blows my mind.

          So obviously she did something.
The easiest way out is to delete that user profile (after you copy documents, settings, bookmarks, passwords etc).

Keep the old profile for a few days to make sure you copied everything
