Upon further research it looks like HDMI 1.4 does not support adaptive sync, so that would not be the issue. I do believe it is possible with HDMI 2.0 or 2.1.So Scratch that for now.
Edit : At this point I am suspecting this could be an issue with the monitor itself. Seeing that the monitor is only a month old and the problem does not occur on the secondary monitor.
If someone else would like to provide some more input please do.
That’s what I’m starting to think. It just seems like such a strange problem with how limited it actually is. Also, I know there is always the potential of defects, but it is a pretty new monitor.

Problems with technology are generally weird.
As far as how new it is, that doesn’t mean anything in todays world. I have seen entire families of products have a defect… (Sony Vaio Laptops I am looking at you… I still remember damn it). I have had clients bring me computers that are under a week old and have a bad hard drive.
Much like a vehicle, a part can go out at anytime.
With that said, if you would like for another member to chime in, go ahead, sometimes a fresh take on an issue will find the solution. I am sure that there is more that can be troubleshooted.
I have come to realize a common occurrence when this actually happens. This screen only ever turns black, when the game I’m playing is dark. Basically, if what the game is displaying happens to be mostly black, it will cause my monitor to act like there is nothing to display. The options screen it’s happening on is black, and it only ever happens when it is dark in the game.
I realized this when I was playing “The Forest” last night. It gets dark, and I can pull out a lighter to give myself light, however, every once in a while the lighter will go out. Every time it went out, I couldn’t see anything as my screen was just black. I couldn’t help but laugh at it, even though it is quite frustrating.
Also, I’m getting in contact with Asus, to see what they have to say on the matter. If anyone has any other ideas, I am all for it. If not, I’ll come back and post whatever Asus offers me as a solution. Either way, I really do appreciate the help here. I posted on many other forums and received no answers. So for that, thank you.
Edit: I decided to just go to google, search black, save an all black picture, and open in, just to see if my monitor would do the same thing. What do you know, that’s exactly what it did. My monitor just decides to display absolutely nothing, when most of the screen is black. I’m so confused.
Well, well, well. I have discovered the issue. With this black image open, I decided to test some of the settings in the OSD. It turns out, when I have Asus “Smart” Contrast Ratio turned on, it makes the screen much darker and makes this happen for whatever reason. It also turns out, that when I actually know what’s wrong with it, I find other threads talking about the issue.
Long story short, if this is happening to anyone else, and you have an Asus monitor. Try turning ASCR off in your OSD.
