Receiving WhatsApp messages lare and/or only when I open the app

I’ve read online that this is a common problem, but none of the suggestions I’ve looked at seem to sort it once and for all. For some reasons I receive WhatsApp messages very late or only when I open the app, yet all is up to date and wifi and/or data is ON. Wondered if someone had the same issue and managed to sort it. Thanks.

iPhone user myself, but using the same theory, is the app allowed to run in the background?

Witot knowing what you have already tried it makes it hard for us to advise and repeating methods already tried.

Switched off and on again
Updated app
Data and wifi enabled
Checked there are no third party apps interfering
Cheked it can run in the background
Enabled all notifications
Disable battery savings options
Disable optimize battery
Do not disturb off
I may have done some other things too without remembering since I have been fiddling with it for quite some time. I haven’t uninstalled and reinstalled WhatsApp as it’s a bit of a hassle.

The bad news is that is all part of the trouble shooting steps.
You have done all I can think of.
Uninstall
reboot
reinstall.
Test.
If you use whatsapp on the computer, do you get a lag?
