Unable to sign in to my iPhone

I’ve just purchased an SE iPhone - my first Apple product - and one problem I’m having with it is trying to create an Apple ID account. So the first thing I do is supply my name, which is no problem. What is a major hassle, however, is completing the date of birth section. Yes, I can put in the day, but that’s all. No matter what strategy I adopt, I can’t for the life of me fill in the month and year. I thought at first that it might be due to the American method of first privileging the month, then the day and year. But no, perish the thought. It is, after all, day, month and year. Not that the ordering makes any difference, though. So obliged to proceed, having reduced out of necessity my currrent age to around six days, I find myself not altogether unsurprisingly presented with the following message: “Ask Parent or Guardian to sign in.” This is where I jump ship. The DOB is clearly the problem, but it’s also where I run out of understanding. There’s obviously an answer, but I can’t see it. ops:

So you know i am not familiar with Apple products.. This is what i found in my research.. This guy was having issues doing the same thing as you.. The work around was he went online completed the apple id account and then logged on that account thru his device.. I am assuming your paper work has this apple link

while not understanding why your issue would occur (maybe Text Size or Display Zoom have been changed), I was going to suggest the same work-around.
setup your AppleID using a PC. once created, enter those details in Settings on the phone.

It’s okay, a friend managed to get past this hurdle for me. There’s still everything to do, of course, but at least I’ve now got an Apple ID. It’s a start. One reason why I put off buying a smartphone for so long is because of this learning curve. Roll on Matrix-style implant technology. . .
