Sat Nav on Android car system

I bough a sd card wuth maps for my android var system with navigation function. Instruction says insert, go to igo , click on apk file and voila, but tgere a a buch of files but no apk file, however if I put it in my pc there is an apk file. How do I get this to work?

I don’t drive so have no information on how to set up sat nav but I’ll ask a few questions.
Is the sat nav built in or is it removable? Usually updating something like that would require connecting to the PC.
