      Unfortunately not.

https://www.wesolveall.com/how-to-id...0your%20tablet . Suggests that the 10.5" tablet is either an 830 or an 835. Given that it’s WiFi doesn’t that confirm that it must be a T830 ? Or is the table missing information ?

Thanks for the link. (Apparently it can not be shipped to the selected country, even though I’ve yet to see where one selects a country.)

          {Ah, have tried the link again having deleted after the first ‘?’ and it no longer has an issue with sending to the UK.}

So, in your experience aliexpress has been a reliable seller ? (Any idea what the range of prices shown refers to, an item surely has one pricetag. Maybe it’s about variable tax/duty ? I may need to look into it further.)

I have found the original box. It is an SM-T830 according to the sticker on it.

I need to make a decision then. I’m less than enamoured at buying from China. Not always had good experiences doing that, plus, although postage claims to be free, it will apparently take a month to reach me. So I may try a few more searches trying to find a UK source first.

Meanwhile, anyone have any advice on getting the tablet to send the screen to a monitor, and connect to an external keyboard & mouse ? I tried the obvious as mentioned earlier, but got no joy.

You normally need to tap a button or so to agree to the connection.
That is why I asked about another tablet. You could connect it and see what pops up on screen.
Then if it needs to press ok or such you would know roughly where to press on your blank screen

Ah. Well the mobile I substituted failed miserably to get a picture to the TV too.

Meanwhile I’m hoping to get a reconditioned tablet tomorrow. Won’t have my data of course, but it may give more options for testing.

As for UK sourced screens, I haven’t found any yet. Those who show them are out of stock. Makes me wonder if all those claiming to repair have any either, or if anyone on the globe has. I did wonder about trying to buy an old tablet sold for spares, but they seem to have screen issues anyway. And if a 2nd hand one actually works there’s less incentive to remove it’s screen anyway.

Ok, took a deep breath and ordered the cheap screen replacement from your link. I suspect at that price I’ve probably just contributed to some scam, but I shall find out mid-December.

I will need to try cabling the reconditioned tablet to a monitor or TV next, see if it fairs any better than the mobile phone did. Trouble is I’ve not planned things well, and won’t be able to get to the cables for a few days; and no enthusiasm to buy more to hurry things up. Cheers.

Buying from the internet is always a risk .
I have bought plenty of things from aliexpress.
But the choice is always yours to make as to whether or not to buy.

An aside. I see one can get Smart Switch for the PC so thought I’d give it a try to hopefully transfer the broken screen tablet to the recon one. (That would solve a lot of present problems.) Turns out it claimed the tablet wasn’t set for data transfer ! And it wanted me to set up something on the tablet, which is a non-starter. So I opt to use File Explorer to look at the tablet, and that’s where it got weird. On my partner’s PC it shows the directories ‘tablet’ and ‘card’. On mine the same tablet shows no directories at all ! Does anyone have any idea why there’s a difference ?

The same tablet? so you have access to another tablet that is similar or the same?
Because her tablet is set for file transfer

Same tablet. (She doesn’t have one.) The one with the broken screen. I’m still trying to get to stuff from it while waiting for a new screen. The difference seems to be with the PCs. (Although I suppose the cable at hers might differ somehow. Only just thought of that. Going back to hers later today so maybe not worth rushing out to buy another cable.)

Edit: Just changed the PC cable from the tablet to my phone. It appears in File Manager ok (as did the tablet) but the phone directories are seen just fine, so the cable is presumably a normal data one. Curiouser & curiouser.

I hope I’m wrong but the more I think of it, at the price, I’m beginning to suspect all they might send is a screen protection, rather than the screen itself. If so that’ll be a following order, and no receipt until the middle of January next year.
