To add to theadvice already given

From the reearch that I have been able to find that the Moto E came witn android 4.4 KitKat and the Moto E4 came with android 7.1.1 Nougat.

As you can see anything past android 9 is not maintained outside of possiable apps updates and that is is the version of adroid and hardware that you have is combatable with the newer relaease.

If I may inject something here. What OS is installed on a phone depends on the device revision and the cellular service carrier. Also the country the device was sold in. Most device updates are sent out thru the Service Provider and most prefer that you just get a new phone. The Motorola Support site has a Rescue and Smart Assistant Tool that may help if the issue is with the software. You can go to the Motrola website and read thru their support FAQs for more information.

@-The Staff, If I have overstepped my bounds, I appologize.

@Rustys Thank you sir. It is unfortunate that there is no standard for the care of cellular devices. I was, most would loosely call, a communications systems device troubleshooter. Lan, Wan, Cell, PBX, ect. The last 10 years was a nightmare with the BYOD culture. No standards. Luckly I found retirement before insanity. In my opinion the OP needs to have a conversation with his service provider and or the device manufacturer.
