How to use my phone as hotspot modem with damaging it the least?

Hello, i usually use my phone’s hotspot for gaming so the hotspot is turned on for 5-6 hours consecutively.
Now from what i found in the internet as long as i keep my phone (Note8) connected to my usb charger & keep it from heating up it wouldnt harm my battery lifespan in long term.
But i wanted to ask how much is this gonna actually harm my battery and what else can i do to lower the harms.

Also on another note, if i connect my phone to a usb charger at 100%, will my phone use the battery and then the charger charges it or the phone will use the AC directly?

happy to be proved wrong here, but from my (limited) understanding, if a battery powder device is connected to mains power, it still gets its charge from the battery, even while the battery is charging.
the battery acts as a sort of AC sine wave filter for you, just like UPS unit.

Lithium Ion batteries have around a 2-3 year life before their storage potential starts to reduce dramatically.
and that’s not 3 years of use, the lithium starts oxidising right off the production line. which is why you don’t look for ‘never been used, still in original packing’ new batteries but actually fresh batteries just assembled.

plus, sitting above all the pro’s and cons, let face it, what are the chances you’ll still have that phone in 3 years!
