Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I haven’t got a smartphone yet so I’m looking to get one. I’m not going to play games or watch movies, just calls, texts, sms, browsing etc. I can get a
SonyXperia 10 Plus Noir for 1Euro through Orange with a cheap sub giving 2hr/100mb for the same price I pay now. So effectively free. One thought is that I’d like access to the internet if the PC goes down. I’ve got an ancient laptop but this would be more convenient. What do you think?
I suspect your topic is too subjective to get any definitive answers.
everyone will have their own biases - basically Apple versus Android fanboys.
myself, I’m in the Apple camp. primarily due to the locked-down OS and app store, which for others, is a negative.
and there in lies your issue, one persons reason to go one way is another persons reason not to.
maybe web forums and review sites would give a better picture.
All you will get is fanboys with their own preferences answering that question. Go out and look around. I have had two Iphones and are glad I went to android and got away from the whole apple thing.
So now you have two opposing views, and with respect that’s about what you will get. Ask 10 people and you’ll get 11 different opinions.
actually, it sounds like you don’t even need a smartphone.
an old classic ‘just calls, text and browsing’ phone will do those.
I see those ‘dumbphones’ are making a come back but just how smart they are I’ve never cared about.
it’s like the current popularity with the young gens rediscovering records and LP’s - it amazes me.
Yes @Bruce I have an old Motorola dumbphone flip phone in a drawer here, was about the best phone ever, used to fit in your pocket and didnt have or need a 42 inch screen.
Thanks @sorcerer and good luck with finding a phone.
