Nvidia gpu driver keeps failing

i have a gtx 780m and it was running fine then i started facing bdos saying display powerstate faliure (something like this i dont remember) and i updated the bios and the firmware and i dont get it anymore but the gpu driver not detecting the hardware kept happening it randomly happens and some times gets fixed by reseting the bios settings to default settings and sometimes not . sometimes it even gets fixed by a simple restart.

i tried ddu , bios update , ec firmware update , sfc /scannow , pci express forcedisable,

rn when i am typing this i deleted the last windows update and with a restart it, the driver came back to life

WHAT i mean by gpu driver not working is that the driver is not shown in the device manager and it shows when i enable β€œshow hidden devices” (when the issue randomly gets fixed it shows as β€œgtx 780m” like nothing happened" and when i delete the driver when the issue is still happening it doesnot show back but when it gets fixed it shows β€œmicrosoft display driver”

the event viewer of the most recent driver that windows installed after the issue randomly got fixed and it installed β€œmicrosoft display driver” shows:

Sorry but you have post on a tech forum asking for help but have provided zero information about your computer or it`s hardware, this makes it impossible for anyone to even hazard a guess as to what is going on.

That is an integrated notebook type GPU that was released way back in 2012 so can I ask.

What is the brand and model name or number of the notebook.

From where are you getting drivers for the GPU.

Got to head out for an hour or so but will be back online within a couple of hours.

            The latest MSI drivers for your GPU are for Windows 8.1 and that is the driver that you should be using, the chip is not able to handle the Windows 10 or 11 drivers as the more modern video chips have higher a power draw than video chips that date back to the GTX 780m era, see my canned info below;

Create a new folder on the desktop, name it Nvidea drivers.

Download and save to the folder the video drivers from here

            Download DDU from here

Create a new system restore point then run DDU and uninstall all present Nvidea drivers.

Restart the computer in Safe Mode only (No Networking). **

Install the new GPU drivers that you saved to the folder on your desktop.

Restart the computer, test then post back with an update for us.

** Do a normal restart if the GPU drivers will not install in Safe Mode

Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as we have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed, thanks.
