Hello everyone… newbie here. I have been given a Dell laptop from a friend and want to completely reset it, the reason being it was his old works laptop and it defaults to the companies login page at start up. Also they have disabled all the F2 bios setup settings so cant reset it that way either. I haven’t tried disconnecting the battery yet as I’m sure there must be an easier way, but after loads of Google searching and asking some friends i/we are at a loss! I really I’d like to reset it and keep windows on if possible, but not a must. As you can tell, I’m a true computer novice however, I think it’s something to do with them having “check point full disk encryption” top of the list in the boot sequence… but I could be completely wrong! ANY help or advice would be really appreciated! TIA, I’ve got my fingers crossed!!

If it were mine, I would remove the drive and reformat it from another PC.
That way you get rid of all encrypted data, leaving nothing to come back and bite you down the track.
But you’re still going to need the BIOS password as you’ll one day need to get into that area to change things.
So the CMOS chip will need resetting as well, the Dell site should have documentation on how to do that.Comment
