    SAVVVEEE MEEEE!

    Hi guys,

I am new to the PC world after playing playstation for nearly 5 years. I recently got a 2020 Razer Blade with a 10th gen i7 and a 1660ti. It is my first gaming laptop so cut me some slack. I was able get windows 11 after buying this computer (second hand) but havent been able to get the gpu (1660) to work. It always uses the built in one and I do not even see it on task manager. Every time I try to update the drivers through Geforce Experience, it fully downloads, says it is installed, then immediatly asks me to install the drivers again. I have also tried doing it through nvidia directly as well as reinstalling. I am lost and cant figure out how to use the actual gpu

Let’s show all the hardware and software on the PC.

    Get Speccy by Piriform.
In Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
Paste that link into your post. Is Speccy safe?

    Get MiniToolBox by FarBar.
In MTB, tick List Installed Programs, click Go then close the program.
A file MTB.txt is created in the same folder, attach that in your post.

        Don’t forget the MTB report.

        From the Speccy report;
        [ul]
[li]your C:\ drive is down to 6% free space. see where the space is being used by using WizTree, see resource here; https://pchelpforum.net/r/wiztree.214/ (click on the History tab to get the download link)[/li][li]what is the model number, should be on a sticker underneath? Use that to check for firmware updates here; Software and Firmware Updates for Razer Systems [/li][li]someone has installed different memory sticks, take out one and try that. If no luck, swap for the other stick.[/li][/ul]
Also, you can free up space using CCleaner or Glary Disk Cleaner or the inbuilt cleanmgr command can do most of those points.
Note: when running CCleaner, only run the Custom Clean, not the Health Check, or Registry clean, or Driver Updater features.
Also, when installing, be sure to check all pre-selected options carefully and not simply allow it to use default suggestions.
It may offer to install AVG Anti-virus, there is no need for this.
It will also add a Smart Cleaning process to Windows Startup and a couple of tasks to Task Scheduler – these can be disabled from within CCleaner.

Does the nVidia graphics card show under device manager? If not then check further under view>show hidden devices.
Did you ensure to click the yes/ok button to approve the installation?
If yes then you can try DDU to cleanly uninstall the driver to be able to install a fresh version. I’d suggest downloading the driver beforehand.

I updated nVidia yesterday but later there was another update so either it didn’t work the first time, there were two driver updates released or there’s a bug with the latest driver.

It shows under device manager but says error code 43, after I update the drivers, it says it’s working properly but still isn’t being used, I cannot use GeForce to assign it since it keeps telling me to update the drivers again

                    I’d try DDU.
                    Otherwise try an older driver.
                    Right click device.
                    Choose update driver.
Choose β€˜browse my computer for drivers’.
Choose β€˜let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer’.
Choose the compatible hardware from the list, then choose next.
Choose one of the older drivers from the list shown, then click next.
This will then reinstall the driver.

Hi guys! Sorry I have been busy with school so I have not had time to figure it out. I recently was able to wipe everything clean and use Geforce to reinstall drivers. The laptop used the 1660 for the whole day. But at the end of the day, it bluescreened, reset, and is doing the same thing again. I am at a loss. Has this happened to anyone else?

No need, everyone will see this.

Since you had it working for a day, I’m guessing a Windows Update, the reboot, or something got installed that mucked it all up again.

A good test, if not to fix it but at least to isolate the culprit, would be to re-wipe the drive and just get Windows installed and activated. Then get the 1660 working. Then update Windows and reboot.
Test 1660 is still working, if so, leave like this for a day or to.
Then gradually add one thing at a time - a game, or Office programs, or a printer, whatever - and see what stops the 1660 card.

I didn’t install anything after the graphics drivers, I already had steam and dbd (only game I have right now) downloaded beforehand. Would it still be possible that that caused the issue?
