I recently installed new ram into my laptop, and have been noticing some major issues since. Mainly, the framerate is not great in most games and especially after about 10 to 20 minutes of playing, it just plummets even though my temps are fine, and my cpu and gpu usage arenβt above usual. Secondly, which is really annoying to me, is that every time my frames drop, the audio starts acting really weird, every second or so the audio will consistently cut out for a tiny bit of time. Iβve tried everything bios or driver related as far as i can tell, as well as trying a different headset (itβs not my headset thatβs the issue). From what i could tell from other posts online, this could be a cpu issue but Iβm unsure. Any help would be appreciated thank you!

The last part of each URL is randomized, so only people you provide with the URL will be able to find your profile.

If you put two matching sticks of that RAM in I see no reason for it to cause issues.

The first issue that you need to address is explained below;
Operating System

Windows is shown to be a recent install and one that has not been done correctly, see my canned info below;
Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer [COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, [COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.
The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.
[COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]** For OEM computers/notebooks such as Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo etc you must only download drivers from their support page, OEMs may sometimes redirect users to a third party site such as AMD or Nvidea to obtain the latest drivers for their GPUs, this tends to be for high end gaming notebooks and desktops though.
Dell computers are even worse as they have their own installation guide that you must follow;

the reason that the windows install date is so recent, is because i did a factory reset to see if that would resolve my issue, (which it mostly did but my framerate is still lower than it should be) but dell already installed all of the drivers automatically after the factory reset, didnβt give me any control over which drivers got installed first. Would you recommend I uninstall and reinstall all of the drivers as Dell says to, or do they automatically install them in the correct order?Comment

The correct way to do the driver installation is to save them to a flashdrive. install Windows and as soon as Windows is installed you disconnect from the internet because as was advised in my reply #8 Windows will stuff things up if you donβt.
Another thing that you need to address;
Power Profile
[COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]Active power scheme: Balanced
Hibernation: Enabled
[COLOR=rgb(44, 130, 201)]Turn Off Monitor after: (On AC Power): 10 min
Turn Off Monitor after: (On Battery Power): 3 min
Turn Off Hard Disk after: (On AC Power): 30 sec
Turn Off Hard Disk after: (On Battery Power): 30 sec
Suspend after: (On AC Power): 10 min
Suspend after: (On Battery Power): 3 min
Screen saver: Disabled
Change the Windows Power Plan to High Performance when gaming else your dedicated GPU will not get the power that it needs to function properly, you must also have the AC adapter powering the notebook for the same reason.
All the above in blue, change to never while you troubleshoot.
Get rid of the problematic Hibernation setting;[/COLOR][/COLOR]Comment

I changed all of the power settings you talked about, but for the drivers is it really worth factory resetting my laptop again to mess with the drivers? Or is there another way to reinstall all of them without factory resetting?Comment

It is not me who dictates how Dell drivers get installed and if still having problems after following all of the other steps in my reply #10 you are running out of options.Originally posted by phillpower2

My problem has been fixed already, the factory reset solved things, and the power settings also boosted my fps a little bit. Im just asking if like going through the whole factory reset again is going to help my fps enough for it to matter. Itβs already more than playable at the moment.Comment
