Thanks for the advice! I tried all the steps and it didn’t work. Except doing a hard reset. I recently reset this laptop and reinstalled Win10, part of the reason was that I thought it might help with the trackpad issue (which has been around for quite a few months now), but unfortunately the problem persisted.

Nah, this one was weird from the get-go.
There must be an issue elsewhere, not in the usual places, nor the parts already replaced.

This is the time you put your hands up and get a bluetooth mouse!

Lol, I’ve already got myself a good bluetooth mouse, it’s just so useful to have the trackpad sometimes. I think the best would be opening the laptop again and having a real close look at what is not normal in the trackpad area.

If anyone sees anything visually wrong just at a glance, please be my guest because this is beyond me. I’m looking at the top left of this, that’s where the problem with the trackpad is. It seems slotted in correctly though.

The only thing under the trackpad on the case is a plastic bar…I still don’t actually understand how it works. This bar is the same, it’s undamaged, it’s really just hard plastic. Why the trackpad doesn’t click beats me.

I’ve now attached the old trackpad again. While the laptop was still open, I reached underneath to see how the “click” sensation would be and it made a way better “magnetic” feeling tactile click.

Now I’ve closed everything up and booted up, the problem persists BUT with the old trackpad I can click an even click & drag (!!!) when I put my finger almost in the bottom middle (bottom left, where we normally would click, doesn’t generate a response). I also note that the trackpad is slightly depressed on that bottom left corner (why beats me again, because the case has been replaced, all screws are correctly tightened, yadda yadda. It’s a weird one).

Any thoughts based on this info?
