How can I try the pad without - would I plug it in without the surround and turn on the laptop?

I’m quite sure it’s the right model - the problem is exactly the same as the other one had which indicates an issue with the surround rather than the trackpad itself

It arrived, and I’m re attaching the case right now. The video is super helpful, thanks @PeterOz . It’s very tricky, I’m currently struggling with getting #1 of these two cables back on. I got #2 back on with a light pressure on the top with a small metal tool, as in the video screenshot, but #1 is eluding me.

I’ll report back once it’s assembled and I’ve booted up.

I’ve assembled…and the problem persists. Now I’m truly confused - if I replaced the trackpad and the case it leans on, how can this problem still be there the exact same way it was with the old trackpad and old case?

Just to be clear - the tactile β€œclick” seems to be there now. But it doesn’t actually do anything when I click (See video:

                  ).

So the β€œtap” click anywhere on the trackpad works, but the actual normal β€œpush” click still doesn’t. (Also they sent me the keyboard with Hebrew letters, not sure why, I’m actually based in Belgium and the original keyboard had a Dutch layout, but no big deal as they are almost the same).

So when you push no click or no action?
Was the cable that you had trouble with part of the touchpad

When I push the bottom-left there is a click sensation, but this is not registered on the laptop itself. So I’m just clicking this thing and nothing happens. I can’t drag and drop, for example. The only type of β€œclick” that works is the one where I lightly tap the touchpad anywhere, not on the bottom-left.

The cable came from the monitor, so I believe that was a monitor connector. It feels like this trackpad hasn’t been inserted properly (still a bit too much play going up and down on that bottom-left, but less than before), but I followed the video religiously, so I don’t know what is wrong.

To be honest it feels as though a screw should be tightened somewhere - but there are no more screws, so it can’t be the case. Unless there’s somehow an issue with the motherboard itself…because as I said, a new trackpad and a new case means that it can’t be either of those.

I should note that one of the screws broke during disassembly one of these times, it’s one of the main screws under the rubber β€œfeet” of the laptop. Could this be the problem? It doesn’t β€œhold” the case anymore as the plastic around it came off too, but I left it screwed into the motherboard underneath just in case. There are still 10 screws, and the other case screw, all holding the case together, so could this one screw be making all this difference?

now that you replaced the touch pad have you checked settings.
