Toshiba Satellite L50-B- Windows desktop -black line

Hello,

I’m an owner of a Toshiba Satellite L50-B- laptop with Windows 8.1

I turned on my laptop to discover a black line appearing on Windows desktop.

Ive connected to an external monitor and no line appears.
Does my laptop screen need replacing?

Can someone please confirm what the problem maybe? Offer troubleshooting tips.

Hello bella1,

Your external screen being ok confirms that the issue is either with the notebook screen or the video cable that attaches the screen to the MB>

If you gently open and close the notebook screen does the line come and go, if yes, replace the video cable, if no, replace the screen and the video cable at the same time.
