I was playing gta 5 today without any problems but suddenly during the game there was a significant drop in performance, as normally without charging I had above 60 fps, now even with charging I have no more than 40 fps how to fix it?
Acer Nitro 5
Rtx 3060 6gb
I5 11400h
16gb ram
I will only add that I had a similar situation once, only my laptop turned off i think due to overheating, for a few days I could not go above 60fps, after a few days it returned to normal 160+ fps
Do not forget to post the make and model of the PSU if this is a desktop.
Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.
To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:
In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
FPS drops are not my thing per say, as Iβm not a gamer but here is my stock standard response, see if anything helps.
if you have your PC as lean and clean as you can make it, thatβs part of the battle.
sadly, the other parts may be outside your control like; number of users/devices on your network, bandwidth, line attenuation, signal to noise ratio, etc.
logging into your modemβs config menu will show these values.
but things you can control are;
[ul]
[li]reboot modem/router/pc[/li][li]delete restore points[/li][li]turn off hibernation (powercfg -h off)[/li][li]empty web browser cache[/li][li]delete system temp files[/li][li]scan Windows for system corruption (sfc /scannow)[/li][li]scan drive for file corruption (chkdsk c: /r)[/li][li]disable unwanted scheduled tasks[/li][li]disable unnecessary startup services[/li][li]disable scheduled defragging[/li][li]TRIM any SSDβs[/li][li]turn off Timeline and Activity History, and all things Microsoft Telemetry based[/li][li]empty recycle bin[/li][li]delete log files and error reports[/li][li]remove old Windows Updates files[/li][li]cleanup software installer and distribution caches[/li][li]delete unwanted programs[/li][li]remove any browser extensions[/li][li]if connecting via wireless, try ethernet[/li][li]pause any online cloud storage synchronising (OneDrive, DropBox)[/li][/ul]
CCleaner (free version) or Glary Disk Cleaner or the inbuilt cleanmgr command can do most of those points.
ShutUp10 by O&O Software can stop a lot of telemetry items.
other things to try;
[ul]
[li]create another user account and login under that profile[/li][li]check for firmware updates for modem/router and PC BIOS[/li][/ul]
do a web speed check - go to www.speedtest.net and post the results.
has there been any changes in the time frame that the FPS rates have dropped?
like new software or hardware, or extra users on the network?
it could also be performance rot, and doing a fresh install of Windows may help.
