Suddenly no pin to login to laptop

Roughly 2 years ago I received a laptop from work. I am not an admin, so I have no access to any advanced settings. The operating system is Windows 11. I have a lot of work saved on it. I have been doing some work on it yesterday - all was working fine. I don’t recall any issues or system updates. I tried to use it today, without thinking I put in my pin. It told me incorrect password. I’m very confused; I thought maybe I had a blonde moment and just typed in the wrong thing. But I have tried every possible password I have ever used for anything. I am certain it was pin I always used, I was only using it yesterday! It gives me no option to change from password to pin. I have tried resetting it and scanning for problems but it won’t let me again, possibly because I am no admin. Has this ever happened to anyone before, and does anyone have any idea what’s wrong?

g’day and welcome to the forum.

the forum rule for help regarding passwords/PINs etc was recently changed (Rule #13).
there is still some clarification that needs to be added to the rule, so apologies to jmarket if I go outside the guidelines here…

the first thing I would be doing is removing the drive from the laptop and getting any data off it you want - assuming you don’t already have your files backed up. whack it into another PC, or put it into and external drive enclosure.

I’ll await confirmation before anything else is suggested.

      Hello,

Due to a PIN being setup and also because this is a corporate device we are unable to assist. Thread locked for compliance reasons.
