    boot issue

Hi, need some help with my HP Pavilion gaming laptop.
so i am building a desktop and had a spare SSD lying around, used the laptop to format the SSD with an enclosure, shut down the laptop and now when i boot, there is windows boot manager telling me windows failed to start. i put my boot usb in and tried changing the boot order and booting off of that but nothing is working. please help.

Are you using F10 to access the bios?
If yes what is listed as the first boot order?

that should be OK, but maybe adding the old SSD which was probably itself an old system drive has tricked your BIOS into thinking there are now more than one bootable option available.

change you change the BIOS boot order to say your internal drive as the first choice.

the only boot options im given are the OS Boot Manager, USB flash drive/USB hard disk, USB CD/DVD ROM Drive, and Network Adapter (disabled).

I thought there was an option to turn off the Boot Manager and manually select your preferred device.

I don’t have access to a HP unit to get into the BIOS of, so I’m just winging it.
I know I’ve seen an option like that before.
it should be in the Boot Order/Menu section, and there is usually an option to turn on/off the OS Boot Manager and there should be a list of bootable devices for you to pick which one gets moved to the top.

feel free to show some screenshots of your BIOS pages if that’ll help.

Turn on or restart the computer, quickly press esc, and then press f9 for boot options.

Why did you not attach the SSD to the desktop and preform the format there?

Have you tried the recovery for the laptop?
