This is all that the UEFI Fast Boot does.

Fast Boot is a feature in UEFI/BIOS that reduces your computer boot time with initialization of a minimal set of devices required to launch active boot option.

Think that it is time to get a speccy report to see what is going on with the system.

Do not forget to post the make and model of the PSU if this is a desktop.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

it’s a laptop Lenovo V15-IIL. I changed from MBR to GPT to switch activate the UEFI (I don’t know if it can be a useful clue)

No
Shift + shutdown = computer turns off

Shift + restart = safe mode.

I say Shift + shutdown

Your laptop was manufacture in June 2020.

Make sure Hibernation is enabled. then try turning off fast boot in BIOS.

Try to edit Local Group Policy.

Have you tried disabling it in regedit?

You can try and run sfc /scannow from CMD right click choose run as admin.

I had an issue in Windows 10, when I turned my laptop off, the next day the battery was always drained. The power setting “Choose what the power button does” kept resetting /reverting to sleep/hibernation. I would check to see if similar has happened in your Windows 11 OS. I am now running Windows 11.

tomorrow I try these things, it’s time to sleep for me.
however the “shutdown” button shuts down the system, I’ve already thought about it.

clicking Start > power icon > Shutdown does shut the PC down - or I should say - can shut it down if the power options are set accordingly and hibernation is turned off. first two things I always do to any PC I touch - so to me, Shutdown has always been just that - good bye, turn off the lights and shut the gate on your way out!

if I’m about to learn something new, it’s going be a good day!

ok, I read “Hibernation: Enabled”… ok… well, Windows settings are ok (I think). Then why is it enabled??

I tried I tried to turn off hibernation from the terminal and now speccy reports that it is disabled.
But Fast Boot is still enabled…

Just to confirm why are you wanting to turn off Fast Boot?

I want to understand why I can’t turn it off, if it doesn’t make me do it there’s a problem, maybe a combination of wrong settings? Maybe CMOS battery?

And the Lenovo logo that I want to remove but there isn’t this BIOS setting…

Probably the battery problem has been solved, I have to monitor for two days the battery status, I will leave the computer off for two days
