    Files on Chromebook

Hi there. I’m a student of Open University and I submitted my assessment , my tutor can’t open it. I did write in Word and the folder is zipped, however, tutor said that he is unable to open. The last time - no problem, but what I did noticed, when opening the files, on the top of the screen there is eye- like sign and it’s saying β€œread only”. Well, I have clicked on it and this shows up - " The contents of this folder are read- only. Some activities are not supported"… How I can get this back how that was?? Please, help???

How are you zippin the files?

What happens when you send just one to see if they can open it?

Do the need the files sent in a specific Word conversion.
IE you use 2020 and they use 2017.

Hi, sorry for the late respond, have been playing with my son.. So I’ve opened google docs, wrote documents, download in Microsoft Word docx , then I have created the folder, and zipp the folder. The thing is that the first assessment I have submit opened with no problem at all. However, that was in November, and me being mum and student making errors in my memory so- I don’t remember exactly did I done this time in the same way…

Can you try recreating the process?

Just do it with a blank document. See if any messages pop up warning you about something.

I did that too. But worrying message is when I’m opening Files and then is this β€œeye” sign on the top of the screen, informing that - read only. How I can get ready of that? I remember that that sign was i wee bit different.

And I did put the file in one drive too. I know… people might laugh, but I’m from centurys ago than from 21 Century..

You see the eye in Google Docs right when you have the file open.

Is this the original document or the one that you downloaded in the DOCX format.

The eye isn’t in the google docs. Is in File, I mean , I got those two in launcher. And the eye , in Files, is on the top of the screen. I think before looked like that one when you signing up with the password and you can click to see the password… I hope you can understand what I mean.

Oh, and it is not original, but I’m afraid that I delete it. Also what I was thinking to do, is bin all those files with my essays and write it again.

Instead of writing it again you might want to copy and paste it into a new document.

                            Save you some typing.

                            EDIT:

Would have to see a screen shot of the eye thing then to make better sense of it. Mainly to see where it is yes understanding the eye that you are talking about.

I had too many copies of those file, everywhere: Office 365, Files, One Drive, My Drive. I did deleted them all. The eye sing is in Files in my launcher.
