    Screen replacement issue

    Hello guys,

    I have a similar problem to this ( https://pchelpforum.net/t/laptop-scr...d-cable.80188/ )

So the thing is I have an Asus FX504GE with Windows 11 installed, I cracked the original screen in one of my trips so I had to order a replacement, the one that I had is a Panda LM156LF 60hz IPS panel. I cannot find a 120Hz Panda panel at that time so I ordered a replacement monitor from ebay. I got an AUO B156HAN04.5 120hz panel. The monitor works fine but I cannot adjust the brightness using the FN keys of the laptop or the slider on Windows. I can adjust the brightness using a third party software. Another thing to note is that the monitor shows as a Generic PnP monitor in the device manager so I am guessing it cannot be detected or it needs driver update. I tried automatic update (not working) I further checked the details of the two monitors the Panda is using EDP 1.2 the AUO monitor uses EDP-30P2L-020A. The question now is if I buy a cable for the AUO monitor would it be working on my laptop or will it fry my motherboard?

Are the EDP Connections standard for the motherboard side and just varies on the output or how does that work? I am a totally green apple with these kind of matter and I hope someone can give an explanation how I can fix my issue. Thanks in Advanced.

Usually separate monitors cannot be controlled by the Fn keys for increasing brightness or volume as they have their own controls for this on the monitor.
