Unllocated Hardisk disk 1 unknown not initialized data error cyclic redundancy check
Hello everyone,
I have an external 1 TB hard disk not used for a long time
i tried to use but says " Unllocated Hardisk disk 1 unknown not initialized"
and when i try to initialize it, says " data error cyclic redundancy check "
Iβm suspecting a failed drive.
Are there any files on the drive which require saving? If not then you can try cleaning the drive in diskpart.
Open powershell/terminal with admin & enter:
diskpart
list disk
select disk X (where X is the number of the problem drive)
clean
exit
exit
Then open disk management & initialise the drive & format it.
If at any time this fails then the drive is a dud.
